A nicely proportioned small triple pad mahogany bracket clock, the case of typical form with three brass bound pads to the round top. It then has a strong moulding going into the breakarch front door with domed glazed apertures to the side of the case. The back door conforms to the shape of the front door and the whole clock stands on small ogee bracket feet. The brass dial has a well matted centre to the main dial with a cut out for the false pendulum bob and a signature plaque above the date aperture. It is signed for the maker ‘Wm Creake, Royal Exchange, London.’ The chapter ring has outer Arabic numerals and inner Roman numerals and there is a strike/silent dial in the arch. It has well cast gilded spandrels and nicely shaped blued steel hands. The eight day gut fusee movement has a reinstated verge escapement and a nicely engraved backplate with a repeat signature ‘William Creake, Royal Exchange, London’ in a cartouche. It strikes the hours on a bell mounted above the plates. Height to base of handle: 13½" (34 cm.)
